Cleaning glass made easy

Glass furniture is an exciting, yet calm and clear sight. As beautiful as the timeless material glass is, it is susceptible to any dirt: Clearly visible fingerprints on the surface are probably the classic here. Careful cleaning is the top priority in order to keep glass furniture beautiful and intact for a long time. With a few tips you can enjoy your exclusive designer glass furniture for a long time.

First things first: Never dry-clean glass furniture! This can leave visible damage in the material: Due to the sensitivity of the glass, even the smallest dust particles on the dry cleaning cloth are enough to scratch the surface. Therefore, always spray some glass cleaner on the cleaning cloth and wipe it over the desired area.

For cleaning you can use anything that can be wetted with cleaning agent: Take a clean sponge or kitchen towels for example. For the final touch, then wipe the glass surface with a microfiber or cotton cloth to dry it off.

Glass cleaning: remove particularly stubborn dirt

An insider tip for removing stubborn dirt from a glass surface is the use of steel wool. This may sound absurd at first, as steel wool is not known to be the gentlest cleaning utensil. The steel monster is actually a master at removing coarse dirt from glass.

When using steel wool, the same rule of thumb applies as for cleaning glass in general: never dry-clean! Put a little glass cleaner on the wool to avoid damaging the glass. Also pay attention to the grain size of the wool: You can use 000 and 0000 to clean glass without hesitation.

A particularly important note for cleaning glass with steel wool: Only clear glass should be cleaned in this way. For example, if you have an elegant coffee table or a high-quality display cabinet made of satined or lacquered glass, you should not clean it with steel wool. Due to the slight unevenness on the satined or lacquered surface, treatment with steel wool can cause damage.

Keyword damage: Do not use a vacuum cleaner to tackle the dirt on the surfaces of your glass furniture. Even if it seems tempting at first glance to simply vacuum away dust and dirt, you should refrain from doing so. The glass can be scratched by touching it with the suction cup. Always wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth and a little glass cleaner. This is how you achieve optimal cleaning.

Especially with glass furniture that you want to use as a shelf, you should use cleaning agents that are as natural as possible. Caustic solutions, acids and cleaning agents containing fluoride are not recommended. Lemon juice, on the other hand, is particularly suitable for cleaning sensitive glass surfaces.

Regardless of which cleaning agent you ultimately choose - it is important that you clean the glass surfaces regularly. The more often you do this, the less likely it is that dirt will settle deep into the glass. Once this is done, the dirt is difficult to remove. So make sure you clean it regularly and gently!

Furniture preserved with proper glass cleaning

Proper cleaning is particularly important for exclusive designer furniture made of glass. After all, these are usually a bit more expensive to buy and should therefore last longer than conventional furniture store furniture. It is therefore all the more important to cherish and care for glass furniture in a manner appropriate to one's status. Unsightly scratches and streaks caused by incorrect cleaning are more visible on glass than on any other material.

Such damage can worsen the overall appearance of the glass and thus of the piece of furniture in general.

Of course, this is not conducive to the appearance of the elegant furniture. With careful, gentle cleaning, you can ideally let your classy designer piece shine in new splendor for decades.
