As with many other tasks, the following applies to interior design: You will achieve the best result if you create a well-thought-out concept beforehand. Before you buy furniture or paint walls, take a moment for planning. Measure the available space accurately and ask yourself some basic questions:
Tip: Make a simple sketch of your room and draw in the furniture to scale. This allows you to visually try out different arrangements before moving heavy furniture.
Of course, the bed plays the leading role in the bedroom. A wardrobe and one or two nightstands are also usually essential. Here's what to look for when selecting and placing the most important pieces of furniture when furnishing a bedroom.

First and foremost, you should choose a bed that you find absolutely comfortable and that meets your ergonomic needs. Whether it's a box-spring bed, an upholstered bed, or a solid wood bed with a slatted frame and high-quality mattress: be sure to test your desired bed in a specialist shop by lying on it for a few minutes!
Another important factor is the size of the bed in relation to the room. In a small room, a massive box bed often looks too bulky. Beds with visible, slender legs, on the other hand, appear airier and lighter and are well-suited for all room sizes. Ideally, place the bed with the headboard against a solid wall so that you have a clear view of the door. Most people instinctively find this more secure and calming. If possible, leave about 60-80 cm of space on both sides of the bed to make getting in and out and changing the sheets easier.
Most bedrooms also contain a wardrobe for storing clothing. A closed wardrobe with doors offers the advantage of making the room look tidy and calm. However, open clothes rail systems are becoming increasingly popular; they look particularly hip, modern, and airy but also require a high degree of order. A wardrobe with sliding doors saves the most space in the room and is therefore particularly well-suited for small bedrooms!
Tip: If you attach a large mirror to the outside of a wardrobe door or choose a mirrored door, it makes the room appear larger and also provides you with a practical dressing aid in one.
Of course, a small nightstand next to the bed is a must when furnishing a bedroom. Here, you can store your bedside reading, alarm clock, and all other utensils you want to have at hand during the night. The selection is vast: from a vintage model made of solid walnut to an elegant, light nightstand made of glass. It's best to choose a model that blends harmoniously with the rest of your decor. If you need more storage space, a small table with a drawer, like our FLAIR model, is a good choice.
By the way – instead of a classic nightstand, you can also use a pretty side table, a small wicker chest, or an old stool as a creative alternative – whatever you like and what works for you is allowed!
Tip: The nightstand should be approximately the same height as the surface of your mattress. This allows you to reach everything comfortably. At DREIECK DESIGN, we can adjust the height of many of our nightstands to perfectly match your bed via custom manufacturing.

The bed, wardrobe, and nightstand are in place, but the room still feels a bit bare and you're wondering: How can I make my bedroom cozier? The atmosphere of a room is significantly shaped by the right choice of colours, light, textiles, and decoration. Here you'll find tips and tricks to make your bedroom truly homely.
White, blue, or pink: which colour fits best in a bedroom? Generally, for the place of your dreams, cool, muted, and soft colours such as various shades of blue, green, grey, or earthy beige tones are particularly suitable. These have a proven calming effect on the psyche and promote relaxation, helping you to wind down and fall asleep more easily in the evening. Bright and vibrant colours like strong orange or bright red, on the other hand, have a stimulating effect – not exactly ideal for the bedroom. However, to add colour to your bedroom, you don't necessarily have to paint the entire room. You can also create very effective individual accents: for example, paint only the wall behind the headboard of the bed in a calming accent colour and keep the rest of the room in a neutral, light tone.
Tip: High-quality wallpapers with subtle patterns or wall tattoos can also be used to creatively and individually enhance your walls.
Neon lights in the bedroom? Not a good idea – because light significantly influences the mood in a room. The colour temperature is particularly crucial here: Warm light (less than 3,300 Kelvin) corresponds to the light colour at sunset and therefore has a calming, sleep-promoting effect. Cool white light (over 5,300 Kelvin), in contrast, has a stimulating effect and makes us more alert. For a cozy bedroom, you should therefore rely on several warm light sources.
At its core, coziness also means warmth and security. What better way to create such an atmosphere than with cozy furnishings and accessories?

Do you want to furnish your bedroom in a modern and cohesive way? Then you could orient yourself towards one of the current or timeless living trends. We present three popular bedroom styles here – but see them primarily as inspiration. Pick out what you like and design your very own stylish bedroom.

A stylish integration of a workspace into the bedroom can also be successful if a few rules are observed.
Finally, our most important tip once again: Before you furnish your bedroom, you should think about a coherent color and style concept. This ensures that a common thread runs through the decor and helps you avoid costly mistakes. And – regardless of home trends: in the end, all that matters is that you feel comfortable in your bedroom and can find rest there. So design the room entirely according to your personal taste and create an oasis with high-quality, durable furniture that will bring you joy for many years to come!
To make a small bedroom appear larger, you should use light wall colors and good, multi-layered lighting. Opt for delicate, not-too-bulky furniture that leaves the floor visible (e.g., with high, slender legs). Furniture made of transparent materials, such as elegant glass nightstands, is ideal as it doesn't visually crowd the room. Utilize the room's height with narrow, tall shelves or cabinets, and consider a perfectly fitting custom-made solution for tricky corners.
The central piece of furniture is, of course, the bed, whose comfort should be the top priority. Also essential are sufficient storage space in the form of a wardrobe or a chest of drawers, and one or two nightstands as practical surfaces next to the bed. Depending on the room size and needs, a stylish chest of drawers or a cozy seating area like an armchair can be a useful addition to the furnishings.
Ideally, the top surface of the nightstand should be at approximately the same height as the top of your mattress. This allows you to comfortably reach your alarm clock, book, or glass of water from bed without overstretching. Since beds, especially box-spring beds, can have very different heights, DREIECK DESIGN offers the option of custom height adjustment for many of our nightstands.
Coziness is created by a combination of several factors. Focus on soft home textiles like a plush rug, decorative pillows, and a bedspread. Multiple, dimmable light sources with warm white light create a comfortable evening atmosphere. Natural materials such as wood (e.g., in a solid wood chest of drawers), wool, or linen, as well as some green plants and personal decorations, also contribute significantly to a homey feel.
