DREIECK DESIGN · MADE IN GERMANY SINCE 1984

A glass desk planned around the way you work

A desk belongs to the room, but it also has a job to do. It needs space for your screen and everyday work, comfortable legroom and a sensible place for cables and storage. Glass keeps the floor visible and can help a home office sit more lightly within a living area.

DREIECK DESIGN makes glass desks in Germany, from reduced all-glass designs to desks with drawers, shelves or stainless steel legs. Start with your equipment and routine, then choose the construction and finish. The examples and planning advice below help you compare the options before ordering.

THE COLLECTION · DIFFERENT APPROACHES

Six designs worth comparing

These examples show different ways to approach the same type of furniture. Open each model to compare its dimensions, available finishes and current configuration price. The photographs show particular versions; the selected options determine your own piece.

A drawer within a transparent body

FLY

FLY gives papers and everyday items a concealed place. The drawer appears to float inside the glass construction. Lacquered, oak and walnut options allow the desk to relate to the surrounding room.

JANUS TS glass desk by DREIECK DESIGN

A compact desk with a drawer

JANUS TS

JANUS TS combines straight glass elements with an integrated drawer enclosed by lacquered glass. Its standard dimensions of 93 × 45 × 76 cm make it a useful comparison for a small writing area.

UT glass desk by DREIECK DESIGN

A continuous bent-glass outline

UT

UT connects the top and sides through a curved glass construction. Different bending radii affect the form and usable surface. It is an option to compare when you prefer a desk without an integrated drawer.

CLASSIC glass desk by DREIECK DESIGN

An all-glass desk with open storage

CLASSIC

CLASSIC can combine the tabletop with glass supports or one or two all-glass shelving elements. The supporting configuration affects both storage and legroom, so choose the layout around your chair and work.

Glass and stainless steel

QUADRO

QUADRO pairs a glass top with square stainless steel legs. Brushed and polished finishes have different effects in the room. Compare the selected dimensions and glass surface alongside your chair and lighting.

REMUS glass desk by DREIECK DESIGN

A stronger base with wood tones

REMUS

REMUS gives the glass top a more substantial supporting outline. Available legs include wood-veneer and lacquered finishes. Check the specified material: veneer, solid wood and lacquer are different constructions.

SIZE & EVERYDAY USE

Choose desktop space around your equipment

A laptop and notebook need a different arrangement from two monitors, a keyboard and frequently used documents. Set out your actual equipment on a temporary surface. Measure the working area, including space for your hands and the things you reach for throughout the day.

Depth matters as well as width. The screen, keyboard and your sitting position need to work together. Include cables and connections behind devices. A shallow writing table may suit occasional use but be too small for the equipment of a full-time workstation.

Then check the clear space under the desk: leg positions, glass sides, a drawer’s underside and the height of your chair armrests. The outside desk dimensions do not describe the space available for your knees and chair. Plan the height and chair together.

Planning tip

Lay out the equipment before choosing the desk. A clear surface looks spacious even when there is too little usable working depth.

PROPORTIONS & PLANNING

Small glass desks and living-room workspaces

A compact glass desk can fit into a bedroom or living space without introducing a large opaque surface. Its full footprint still includes the chair pulled back and the route behind it. Check doors, radiators, outlets and other furniture at the same time.

JANUS TS is a compact example with a drawer. Its standard size can suit a small writing corner, while a larger monitor or more equipment may need a deeper surface. Choose from the way you work, not just the amount of floor space available.

Closed storage can help a work area return to a living room after the day is finished. A separate cabinet or shelf may be more practical than making the desk do every job. Confirm any plan for storing electronics in closed compartments, including ventilation and cable access.

Planning tip

A small desk should still let you sit comfortably. Include the chair’s movement in the space you mark on the floor.

DETAILS THAT MATTER

Drawers, shelves and the cable route

FLY and JANUS TS offer integrated drawers. Check the internal dimensions when a particular laptop, folder or accessory needs to fit. A drawer is storage, not automatically a suitable enclosure for operating electronics.

CLASSIC can use glass shelves within the supporting arrangement. Open storage keeps books and papers accessible, but the contents remain visible. Include the objects you will place there when checking the space for your legs.

With clear glass, cables are part of the view too. Plan the route from the outlet to the desk and each device. A cable opening, monitor mount or cable holder should only be treated as included when the selected specification confirms it. Discuss any required changes before the design is finalized.

Planning tip

Plan the power route as carefully as the desktop. A cable solution is easier to agree before dimensions and construction are fixed.

FINISHES & FUNCTION

Glass finishes, reflections and comfortable use

Clear glass leaves the base and floor visible. Low-iron Optiwhite reduces the green tint seen in conventional float glass, particularly at the edges. Satin and lacquered finishes provide different surfaces and levels of transparency.

Check the desk position at different times of day. Windows and lights can reflect in both glass and screens. A side-on relationship to the window may help, but the actual room and your seated view should guide the choice.

Do not assume that every satin finish has the same upper surface or eliminates reflections. Some treatments are applied underneath; others affect the top. A suitable desk mat can define a writing area, and a mouse pad is useful because not every mouse sensor works reliably on clear glass.

Planning tip

Look at the actual surface specification. The word “satin” alone does not tell you which side is treated or how the desk will reflect your room.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

Your planning checklist

  1. Arrange screens, keyboard, mouse and papers and measure the usable working area.
  2. Check desktop depth, chair height and the clear space under drawers or supports.
  3. Include the chair’s movement, doors, outlets and routes through the room.
  4. Decide what belongs in a drawer and what needs open storage.
  5. Discuss monitor mounts, heavy equipment and cable requirements before ordering.
  6. Confirm glass treatment, materials, selected dimensions and delivery access.

Planning in inches? Product dimensions are shown in centimeters. One inch is 2.54 cm. Send us your original measurements and units when discussing a custom piece, so we can agree the dimensions precisely.

Looking after glass and its companion materials

Remove loose dust or grit before wiping the surface, and use clean, soft cloths with a cleaner suited to the actual finish. Avoid abrasive pads and dragging rough objects across glass. Appropriate pads or coasters help protect the surface from rough bases, moisture and hot objects.

Glass, satin finishes, lacquer, wood and metal may need different care. Follow the instructions for your selected piece rather than applying clear-glass advice to every surface. Our glass cleaning guide explains the basics.

Check intended loads and accessories against the specific model. The glass type or thickness alone is not a load rating for a finished table. Tell us about heavy objects or a special use before ordering, so we can review the construction with you.

YOUR SPACE · YOUR MATERIALS · YOUR IDEAS

Made for your room, including your own design

DREIECK DESIGN has developed and manufactured furniture in Germany since 1984. You can ask about changes to a collection piece or bring us an original design. Our custom work can combine glass, solid wood and matching metal parts, with dimensions, colors and finishes agreed for the project.

For a custom desk, include the required working width, depth and height, your chair dimensions and the equipment you will use. Add monitor weights, any proposed mounts and cable requirements. Bent-glass UT designs have manufacturing limits on custom dimensions, which we will check with you.

You do not need a finished technical drawing to begin. A sketch, photos and a clear description of how the furniture will be used give us a practical starting point. We discuss the construction and details with you, then prepare an offer for the agreed specification. Explore custom-made furniture or contact our team to start planning.

If you are visiting Germany, you can compare selected furniture and materials at our showroom in Hennef near Cologne and Bonn. Visits are by prior appointment only, arranged by email or phone. Tell us which models or materials you would like to see so we can confirm what is available. We also advise on furniture selection and original custom designs.

Ordering, configuration and delivery

For a collection piece, choose the available dimensions and finishes on the product page and order directly in our online store. This also applies to customers in the United States and the United Kingdom. For a custom design, contact us first to agree the details and receive an individual offer.

The “from” price in the product gallery is a starting price. Your selected size, glass, finishes and equipment determine the configuration price. Compare like-for-like specifications rather than using the starting price as the cost of every pictured version.

Shipping charges, service and local requirements depend on the destination. Read our delivery information for your country before ordering, and ask us about the current lead time for your chosen version. Share any restricted access, narrow doors, stairs or elevator limits before confirming the order.

Which glass desks have open shelving?

CLASSIC can include all-glass shelving elements in the supporting configuration. Check the selected layout and allow for the contents as well as the shelf itself when planning legroom.

CLASSIC: compare shelving options →

Can I attach a monitor arm to the glass top?

Only use a clamp or other mount when it is suitable and approved for the specific glass top and desk construction. Share the monitor weight and proposed mount with us before ordering. Glass thickness alone does not establish compatibility.

Discuss your monitor and mounting requirements →

Will my computer mouse work on a glass desk?

That depends on the mouse sensor. Not every mouse works reliably on transparent glass. A suitable mouse pad is a simple way to provide a defined tracking surface.

Glass surfaces and everyday use →

Are the glass desks height adjustable?

A choice of fixed heights or a custom height does not mean a desk adjusts during use. If you need to alternate between sitting and standing, tell us before selecting a model so the required function can be discussed explicitly.
