Give your collection a place in everyday life

Model cars, figurines and porcelain deserve a display that lets you see their detail. A glass cabinet brings your collection into the room while keeping it separate from open shelves and everyday handling.

Start with the size of your objects and the height at which you want to view them. VITRO provides a wall-mounted solution; SOLUS offers a compact floor-standing footprint, and SOLUS XL gives you more width for arranging groups.

Plan the display around your objects

  • Measure: include bases, antennas and projecting details.
  • Choose a position: consider viewing height, door movement and lighting cables.
  • Check usable space: shelf dimensions and access openings matter more than external dimensions.
  • Allow for change: leave room for new pieces and changing arrangements.

Compare wall, floor and corner solutions

These examples show different ways to position a collection. The dimensions below are external measurements in width × depth × height; ask us to confirm the usable shelf space for your objects.

VITRO · display at eye level

54 cm wide and 21 cm deep, with heights of 58, 84 or 110 cm. Wall mounting can bring smaller objects closer to eye level while leaving the floor clear.

Locks and LED lighting are available as configuration options. Plan the mounting position, wall fixings and fully loaded weight before installation.

SOLUS XL · more space across the display

75 × 38 × 200 cm, with two doors. The wider format is useful when you want to present several pieces together rather than in a single vertical line.

CASTEL · an option for a room corner

Corner versions have a 56 × 56 cm external footprint and heights of 137, 170 or 203 cm. CASTEL also offers single and double rectangular cabinets.

This is an additional model to consider if a corner position works best. Check usable shelf space and door opening before choosing the layout.

Model cars, figurines and porcelain need different spaces

Measure the tallest, longest and widest pieces, including stands and delicate parts. A model car may need more depth than a small figurine; a porcelain bowl may need more width than its height suggests. Leave enough space to lift each object out safely with both hands.

Arrange a representative group on a table first. This helps you judge spacing, sightlines and how the collection looks together. For heavy minerals, sculptures or densely arranged objects, confirm the shelf load limit for the specific cabinet and configuration.

For wall cabinets, include the cabinet, contents, wall construction and fixings in the installation plan. External depth is not a guarantee of usable internal depth. Read our guide to choosing a glass display cabinet →

Use glass, background and lighting to reveal detail

Clear glass keeps the objects and their surroundings visible. Optiwhite has less inherent colour than standard Floatglass, which can help when you want a more neutral view. Compare the glass types →

Try a single object against a light and a dark background. Dark figurines may stand out more clearly against a pale panel; light porcelain may gain definition against a darker background. A transparent back makes the wall colour part of the display.

Spots can emphasise individual pieces, while shelf lighting can illuminate several objects along a level. SOLUS offers spot options and VITRO offers LED lighting options; the available equipment depends on the model and configuration. Compare illuminated glass cabinets →

Keep the needs of sensitive objects in mind when choosing the position, sunlight exposure and lighting. A domestic display cabinet does not by itself provide museum-standard climate control or conservation protection.

A growing collection needs access as well as space

Group pieces by series, period, colour or personal significance. Some clear space between groups often makes a display easier to read than filling every shelf. You can rotate pieces rather than showing the entire collection at once.

Closed doors reduce dust entering compared with open shelving, but they do not automatically make a cabinet completely dustproof. SOLUS, VITRO and CASTEL offer lock options; a furniture lock should not be treated as a certified burglary-protection system. View lockable display cabinets →

Made-to-measure planning and delivery

DREIECK DESIGN is a family business founded in 1984, with furniture manufactured in Germany. Tell us the model, available floor or wall space, object dimensions and approximate number of pieces. A photograph or sketch helps us assess the layout and any requested changes to dimensions, shelves, glass, lighting or locks. We check feasibility for the chosen design before preparing a quotation.

Allow approximately 6–8 weeks for delivery, depending on the configuration and destination. Confirm the current schedule for your order and mention access conditions such as narrow stairs or a small lift.

Our premium delivery service is included for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Liechtenstein under the published conditions. Other destinations have different services and charges. Check the delivery conditions →

Questions about glass display cabinets for collectors

Which cabinet can be mounted on a wall?

VITRO is designed as a wall cabinet. It is 54 cm wide and 21 cm deep, with three height options. The mounting method must suit the wall and the planned loaded weight.

Which display cabinet suits model cars?

Start with the actual model dimensions and any base or diorama. VITRO may suit smaller objects and shallow arrangements; larger models need more usable shelf space. Confirm internal dimensions and the removal opening before ordering.

Are the cabinets completely dustproof?

Closed doors reduce dust exposure compared with open shelves. Complete dust-tightness is not promised. Tell us about any special protection requirements before selecting a model.

Can I choose a lock or lighting?

Options depend on the model. SOLUS and VITRO offer locks and lighting in their configurators, and CASTEL offers locks. Check the equipment for the particular version you want.

Can the shelf layout be adapted to my collection?

Send us the largest object dimensions, approximate quantity and a proposed arrangement. We assess what changes or made-to-measure dimensions are possible for the selected cabinet.
